MagicCandy
A tablet app for branded stores, where a customer picks a shape and sends it to a 3D printer.
The goal
MagicCandy puts 3D printing in a shop. A branded store runs the app on two tablets: one for the operator, one for the customer choosing a shape. The job was to extend the printing solution - YouTube, video processing done in code, 3D shaping and the cloud work holding it together - and to give staff one place to manage all of it.
How it works
The customer picks a shape on their tablet and sends it to the printer to process; the operator works from the second tablet. Shapes are generated and prepared in code with OpenSCAD, AdMesh and CuraEngine before they reach the printer. A third web app is the CMS, covering every feature. It is an Angular front end on ASP.NET Web API, with SQL Server on Azure, and the YouTube and GitHub APIs wired in.
